Your POS system is a marketing decision

We tend to think of the point-of-sale as an operations problem — get the numbers right, take the money, move on. But watch a customer at checkout and you'll see something else entirely. The moment they pay is the moment the whole experience gets sealed in their memory.

A fumbled payment, a confused staff member, a receipt that takes too long — these aren't backend inconveniences. They're the last impression, and last impressions are sticky.

People remember how you made them feel at the edges of the experience — the hello and the goodbye.

When I set up a POS for a client, I treat it like a brand touchpoint. The screen should be calm. The flow should match how their customers actually buy. Staff should never have to apologise for the system.

The businesses that get this right don't necessarily have the fanciest hardware. They have a checkout that feels considered — and customers leave feeling like the whole thing was handled by people who care. That feeling does more for repeat business than any campaign I could run for you.
